UPDATE: 2:53 p.m.

Forest, VA - The lockdown at four schools in Forest was lifted at 12:02 p.m., officials tell ABC 13.

Sheriff Mike Brown says his office received a report at 9:40 a.m. that a student had been assaulted with a weapon by a black male in his 30's, wearing a grey hoodie and black pants.

Officials, however, were unable to substantiate the report, and the lockdown was lifted shortly after noon. The Sheriff's office says they are continuing to investigate the report, however.

Jefferson Forest High School, Forest Elementary School, Forest Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary Schools were all placed on lockdown at 9:45 a.m.

Sheriff Brown says at no time were any students in immediate danger. Deputies remained on the scene until the lockdown was lifted, Brown said.

Forest, VA - Four schools in Forest are on lockdown after an incident in Daltons Drive, off of Cooper Road, several miles from Jefferson Forest High School.

Thomas Jefferson Elementary, Forest Elementary, Jefferson Forest High School, and Forest Middle School are all locked down.

According to Captain Tim Hayden with the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, a JF student claims he was assaulted by a man while he was getting into his car to go to school.

Deputies are currently searching the area where the student claims he was assaulted, off of Cooper Road.

The "level one" lockdown is still in place, which means students can go from class to class, but can't go outside.

They also have security at the doorways.

A text alert was sent to parents.
