Lynchburg - What could have been a playoff-clinching night for the Hillcats Wednesday turned into a one-run 12-11 loss and rainout in game two.
Lynchburg trailed 6-0 after a half-inning and then by seven runs in both the fourth and fifth innings of the seven-inning game before mounting a huge comeback. Levi Hyams tripled and scored in the fifth, he also doubled and drove in two runs. Kyle Kubitza drove in four runs, including a 3-run homer in a 5-run sixth as Lynchburg rallied to tie the game at 11. Carolina, though, scored one in the top of the seventh and pulled out the 12-11 win. Game two was rained out, so they'll play two Thursday night beginning at 6:05. The Hillcats' magic number is one to clinch a wild card spot, either a Lynchburg win or Wilmington loss will sew up Lynchburg's second straight year in the playoffs, the Hillcats won the league championship last year.
