Gretna - Today's high school Team of the Week is Gretna Hawks football. The Hawks started their season with a bang Friday night. Gretna went on the road and beat two-time defending state champion Brookville handily 42-20, ending the Bees' 28-game winning streak that began in 2011. Dyon Rosser had an incredible game for the Hawks, part of five touchdowns, including returning two interceptions for scores. Gretna is ranked number 1 in Football Friday's Top 13 poll.
Kevin Saunders, GRETNA HAWKS HEAD COACH, said "Our offensive line, you know everybody thought we weren't going to be able to run the ball on 'em, we took care of that. You know we can line up and run the ball on a lot of people. And our defense, we were really bad on defense last year and we changed the scheme on defense and we're very, very good on defense right now. We've just got to keep getting better, it's a long season. You know it's a marathon, not a sprint, so if we keep going, I think we've got a good shot."
