Henry Co., VA - A Henry County Ruritan Club is in shock after all of their supplies for an upcoming event were stolen.
The Stanleytown Ruritan Club holds several pancake breakfasts each year as fundraisers, but they won't be making flapjacks for this month's Heritage Festival if they don't get new equipment soon.
Thieves made off with a trailer full of grills, propane tanks and serveware - about $6,000 worth in all.
The incident happened sometime between August 27 and August 30.
Club Director Betty Scott says it couldn't have happened at a worse time because their annual Heritage Festival is just 8 days away.
They usually kick-off the event with a pancake breakfast.
Scott says they use the proceeds from those events to fund scholarships for local high school students. She says this setback might keep them from meeting that goal this year.
"We were not insured so we're going to have to really dig deep to get the money to pay for that which means some of the money we were going to use for scholarships and that kind of thing will have to go toward replacing our equipment that was lost, " Scott said.
If you have any information on the missing trailer, please contact the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
The Ruritan Club is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
