Salem - The Salem Red Sox are this year's Carolina League Baseball champions!
It's Salem's first championship since 2001, 12 years to the day, the day before the 9-11 attacks. The franchise was known then as the Salem Avalanche and was a Colorado Rockies affiliate.
Matt Price, who earned his first playoff save, said "It's awesome. It's just... I'm so happy for these guys. Its just such a great group of guys. I'm tickled to death, man. It's just absolutely an amazing experience."
Sean Coyle, who drove in four runs in the clinching win and was named Series MVP, said "It's definitely been a journey. I mean for the team, for me myself. For everybody. It's pretty tough to put into words right now. It's unbelievable."
