Lynchburg - One of the Liberty Flames' big weapons in last week's win over Monmouth was punter Grant Bowden.
Bowden, honored this week as the Big South's Special Teams Player of the Week, pinned the Hawks at the one-yard line on their first drive, leading to a Flames safety. Four of Bowden's five punts ended with fair catches. The senior is quick to credit a special teams standout from Appomattox.
Grant Bowden, FLAMES SENIOR PUNTER, said "I really owe a lot to Kenny Scott. He's done an amazing job just as a gunner. If you go back and look at the Kent State film and the film here, Kenny is actually the one who downed it on the 4 at Kent State and the one at the 1. So I really owe a lot to him understanding what we're trying to do in sky kicks and really helping me down the ball down there."
