Danville, VA-- Some help for parents on the Southside to keep their kids on the right path.
Danville's District Court Service Unit held their first Parent Summit at the Danville Boys and Girls Club on Thursday.
The theme was Keeping Kids Safe and Parents Sane. They held several workshops through out the day. Topics included drugs, gangs, anger management and how teens use technology.
The organizer said she hopes this workshop will give parents a better understanding of issues that may affect their children.
"We're seeing some of the same families before the court system, before social services and before the school for behavioral problems," said Joyce Green, Juvenile Probation Supervisor for Department of Juvenile Justice. "So we know if we're seeing the same families all the time, something needs to be done."
The Danville Police Department and other city departments helped with the workshops.
