Body recovered after boating accident on Black Warrior River Friday

A body has been recovered from the Black Warrior River after an early-morning boating accident in Hale County, authorities confirmed to ABC 33/40 Friday.

The accident occurred before dawn above Lock 8. It is unknown at this time how many people were aboard the vessel prior to the incident. They were preparing for a fishing tournament Saturday.

Tuscaloosa Co. Sheriff's Office Dive Team and Aviation Unit assisted in the search. Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue located the victim.
