Danville, VA -- STEM education is really to focus for a lot of our students right now and the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville is supporting local schools.
Over the past few months, they have purchased biotechnology equipment for their new Loaner Lab program. This equipment is housed in their STEM Mobile Learning Lab, which they can bring right to a school at a teacher's request. This equipment is very expensive and is often only used a couple of times a year so most local schools don't have it.
"I think it is vitally important because if you can get a child interested in science at any age, but particularly when they are younger, they tend to stay with it better," said Michael Duncan, director of Research and Commercialization at Institute.
A teacher has to arrange a day and time with the Institute to bring the equipment to class.
