Beer Sales Are Up at Scotfest Despite No Pitchers Being Sold

Posted: Updated:

It's the 34th year for the Scotfest in Tulsa, but this year River Parks decided to no longer sell 64 ounce pitchers of beer.

"I'm honestly fine with it. I didn't come out here to drink a lot. They do have a 32-ounce beers which is plenty for a beer. By the time you are done with it, it's getting warm," Stoney Callahan said.

Most of the beers are on the six point scale and that's why people don't seem to care.

"It seems like a big deal on the surface, but once you are out here it's not really a big deal," Callahan said.

Thousands of people have already made it out to Scotfest and the beer sales are up from pervious years.

"It's not such a big deal as far as we are concerned. We are going to have our event anyway and we are going to be drinking lots of beer anyway. So, come out and drink it you can still walk away with 64 ounces it's just in two cups instead of one," Executive Director of Scotfest Steve Campbell said.

The decision was made in August to not sell the 64-ounce pitchers at the River West park events. The River Parks Authority said it is to make everyone safer.

"It's all about responsible drinking. You aren't going to stop someone from drinking X amount. They just do it in smaller and slower pace. I think it will all work out for everybody," Campbell said.

Scotfest runs through Sunday they will be open from 9 a.m. till 5:30 p.m.
