Homicide detectives begin an investigation after police find a man dead inside a car in Midtown Tulsa.

Just after midnight Monday, Tulsa Police got calls from neighbors near 4900 S. Norfolk Avenue. They said they heard gunfire and the sound of a car crash.

Officers eventually found a wrecked car with a dead man inside. Investigators identified him as 28-year-old Tyler Gragg.

Homicide detective Sergeant Dave Walker said a motive for the shooting isn't clear, but he does know Gragg was involved with a drug deal just prior to the shooting.

Walker said it's unclear if the deal had anything to do with the shooting. Gragg was ambushed close to a family member's home. A person in the car with Gragg when he was shot has been questioned by police and released.

Walker said that person and Gragg circled the block once when they sensed trouble. They came across a small, possibly light colored car. The witness told police that two men got out, walked over and started arguing with Gragg as he sat in the driver's seat. The argument escalated until one of the men shot and killed him. They got back in their car and left the area.
