Reasor's Makes Large Donation to Oklahoma Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

Food bank officials were on hand Thursday morning to accept a large donation from Reasor's.

Approximately 100 pallets of food were delivered to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Reasor's made the donation in preparation for the new stores opening in Tulsa.

"This gift from Reasor's is tremendously generous and we're grateful for their community spirit," said Eileen Bradshaw, executive director of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. "They've been a sustaining partner in the fight against hunger with us and this donation will quickly pass into the hands of those who need the help."

A spokeswoman for the Food Bank told KTUL that the donation this morning will help the organization feed families as the holiday season approaches. Typically they see donations kick up in the summer and the winter.

The donated food and product will be sorted and repackaged by Food Bank volunteers and made available for the Food Bank's 450 Partner Programs throughout eastern Oklahoma.

"Unfortunately one in six Oklahomans is struggling with hunger, we know this donation will have a direct impact on the communities we serve," said Steve Lehto, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Reasor's. "We are committed to giving back and partnering with the Food Bank has been a great way for us to do that."
