Blacksburg, VA - The Virginia Tech Hokies beat the Thundering Herd of Marshall Saturday in triple overtime 29 to 21.

Despite the action on the field, the attention now turns to area roadways as thousands of fans head out of Lane Stadium right into heavy rain and traffic.

ABC 13 Pinpoint Doppler Radar showed very heavy downpours over the New River Valley into the Roanoke Valley, moving east Saturday afternoon as the game ended.

VDOT cameras available to ABC 13 also showed heavy traffic at Southgate near 460, and more traffic slowing down in the heavy rain along I-81 in between Christiansburg and Roanoke.

State Police say weather was a factor in a fatal accident that involved six vehicles on I-77 Saturday. Fog and poor visibility were to blame in the accident near Fancy Gap in Carroll County.

VDOT and State Police urged drivers to exercise extra caution as the heavy rain moved through the area, and to be aware of the extra game day traffic into the evening Saturday.
