Forest, VA- Apocalypse Ale Works hosted a fundraiser on Sunday for 24 Hours of Booty, which is an organization that involves 24 hours of cycling while raising money in the fight against cancer.

Sunday's event was spearheaded by Lynchburg native Vaughn Arthur.

Arthur is a 25-year cancer survivor, but for the past four years, he has been helping others through the 24 Hours of Booty program.

"24 Hours of Booty is basically a fundraiser to help people with cancer. It's not there to do miles, it's not out there as a competition, it's out there to help people," Arthur explained.

The fundraiser itself has four big events locations: Indianapolis, Charlotte, Columbia and Atlanta.  In order to celebrate his 25th year of being cancer-free, Arthur decided to ride in all four events.

Arthur and his wife ride with Team Collin. The group met online in a forum and was created in honor of Collin, a 2-year-old boy who died of Leukemia in 2010. It's made of 28 people from 17 different states. Every year, they meet at Indianapolis, the biggest event of the year.

"The people that are on that team are incredible. I've never met more people with a bigger heart then in that little group...that met on the Internet," Arthur said.

Back home, friends are helping Arthur raise money for the fourth and final event of the year in Atlanta.

The owners of Apocalypse Ale Works in Forest have decided to donate $1 for every beer they sell on Sunday.

"It's been incredible. People all over Lynchburg that I know--from the cycling groups that I know, to my friend...everybody has been very supportive," said Arthur.

With the four events, Arthur hopes to raise more than $25,000 for Team Collin this year, most of which was raised in Indianapolis.

Apocalypse Ale Works will host the same event next Sunday. Arthur will head to Atlanta to bike in the final event on October 5-6.
