Following a loss to Richmond Liberty returns home for a Saturday night 7 p.m. kickoff against Kentucky Wesleyan.
NOTES FROM TUESDAY'S NEWS CONFERENCE WITH COACH GILL AND THE PLAYERS
-Kentucky Wesleyan is 0-3. They're a Division II team making its second trip to Lynchburg. LU beat them 57-0 in 2011.
-LU only beat another Division II team (Concord) last season 21-13.
-LU has lost six road games in the past four seasons against quality opponents. I asked Coach Gill and a few players their thoughts on how that can change. (Click on the video player for more on this).
-Jacob Hagen will be suspended for the first half of Saturday's game after he was ejected against Richmond for hitting a defenseless receiver. Gill showed the video of the hit to the media in his office and as a unbiased member of the media it was easy to see why he should have been ejected and why he shouldn't have been ejected. It was one of those toss-up calls. This is the first season players who commit such fouls are required to be ejected. The LU-Richmond game did not have the benefit of TV instant replay so the call was not immediately reviewed like it could be at the FBS level.
-Gill said Aldreakis Allen is once again out with an injury.
-Gill is very pleased with the running ability of LCA's Des Rice. Rice exploded for a nice 46-yard TD run against Richmond that got LU within two points.
