Good Samaritan Waitress Returns $100 to Unknowing Customer

Lynchburg, VA - You find a wad of cash sitting on the table. Do you pocket it, or track down the owner?

One waitress in Lynchburg faced that question.

Andre Whitehead had just gone to the bank to take out some cash. He wanted to grab a good breakfast before he hit the road to take a trip to Virginia Beach. He ate his meal, got up and left, and didn't think twice, until, "I got to the car, and she comes running out waving, and she said you tipped me, but you left a wad of money under the napkin and I wanted to give it to you" he said.

More than $100 in cash, Andre Whitehead left it sitting at the table where he'd just had his breakfast. He took it out to pay his bill, and forgot about it.

"She could've kept it but she brought it out to me" he said.

We reunited Whitehead with his waitress, Good Samaritan, Janice Carnes.

"When I noticed it cleaning, I said oh, that's the money he pulled out of his wallet. I said oh sir, you left this on the table. I said I know it's not my tip was separate, this is yours you took out of your wallet" said Carnes.

"And she could've easily kept the money and I would've just said hey, I lost some cash, but I just thought that was a great thing for her to do" said Whitehead.

Carnes, a Mother of two, says sure, she could've used the cash, "I just don't believe in taking something that's not yours. I believe it karma, so it's what goes around comes around" she said.

And in addition to a $20 tip, another thank you; Whitehead gave her $30 in gift cards. He says for this waitress, kindness is simply second nature.

"When I come through the door, I will be asking for her. There are good people in the world and it's cool to do good by people" said Whitehead.

Whitehead says he'll continue to frequent the Hilton Garden Hotel restaurant, always with hopes that his favorite waitress will be the one waiting on him.
