Martinsville Man Charged With Abduction, Malicious Wounding Following Assault

Martinsville, VA – A Martinsville man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted a woman who had to be taken to the hospital for her injuries.

Police say they responded to the 1500 block of Stultz Road at 12:43 p.m. to a report of an assault in progress.

When police arrived, they say that Shantez Teyon Hairston, 18, of Martinsville had pulled Monchell Nicora Witcher, 27, of Martinsville by the hair from the front of the house to the back. Witcher had cuts and swollen areas on her head, police say.

Hairston was arrested and charged with one felony count of abduction, one felony count of malicious wounding, and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. He is in the Henry County Jail without bond.
