A Sand Springs man jail on a murder charge was found with two homemade knives in his cell earlier this week.

Ronnie Dean Haskins was arrested on Sept. 25 on a possession of contraband/weapon complaint when detention officers found two, seven-inch pieces of light colored metal in a drain pipe under the sink of Haskins' cell.

According to the report from the Sand Springs Leader, the metal had been sharpened to a fine point on one side and the other side had what appeared to be finger slots. Haskins told officers he did not know about the homemade knives and had never touched the plumbing in the cell.

Haskins was in jail after being arrested and charged with first-degree murder after a stabbing incident in Tulsa.

Back in August, Tulsa Police answered a call at the 6100 block of W. 8th Street in Tulsa, where Zachary Montgomery had been stabbed in the neck. Montgomery was transported to an area hospital but died on the way as a result of the stabbing.

Haskins was officially charged with first-degree murder on Aug. 9.
