According to State Police, the two-vehicle accident happened around 10:20 p.m., Friday, right near Meadowview Drive. Officials say a car was headed west, when it ran a red light at a high rate of speed, and T-boned a pickup truck on its driver's side door.
We are told the driver of the car fled the scene. Officials are still looking for this person. A passenger in that car was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
His condition is not known, but officials say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
We are told Clarence Beckner of Ringgold was driving the pickup truck. He was also transported to the hospital via ambulance.
The investigation is underway.
Danville, VA – State Police are investigating an accident that occurred around 10 p.m. Friday in Danville.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of Highway 58 and Berry Hill Road.
While officials are not releasing many details, a witness on the scene of the wreck, Leonard Harville, sent several pictures into ABC 13.
In the photos, a white pick-up truck can be seen along with a burgundy car with front end damage and damage to the driver's side door. The truck sustained damage to the rear of the vehicle and to the front.
Because police are still investigating, it is not clear how the accident started or who was involved.
At least one person was transported via ambulance from the scene, though the extent of any injuries is not known at this time.
The Virginia State Police along with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Department assisted in the wreck. The Danville Life Saving Crew was also on the scene.
