Lynchburg Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash Involving Deer


Charlotte Co., VA – A Lynchburg man died over the weekend after a deer collided with the motorcycle he was driving.

According to State Police, the accident happened at 11:17 a.m. Saturday on Route 47 just north of Route 649.

Police say Stephan S. Eberhardt, 51, of Lynchburg was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson Fatboy motorcycle southbound on Route 47 when a deer ran into him, knocking him off of the bike.

Two other motorcycles, a 2010 Harley-Davidson Road King and a 2004 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide were traveling with the Fatboy bike and crashed as they swerved to avoid hitting Eberhardt.

Eberhardt died at the scene.
