Lynchburg Humane Society Raising Millions

Lynchburg, VA-  The Lynchburg Humane Society is much closer to their fundraising goal for a new facility.

They took a $1 million challenge in March when an anonymous donor committed to matching a million dollars.

Now, $2 million later, the Humane Society is just under half a million dollars short of their goal of $4.8 million.

They want to meet their goal by the time they break ground at their new facility on Graves Mill Road next month.

"We wanna be a regional adoption center so that today animals that are euthanized or put down instead find wonderful homes. Guys like this deserve a home, " said George Dawson, Co-Chair of The Capital Campaign.

The new facility will have new and improved kennels, an education facility for summer camps and birthday parties, and a new health area so that animals will be able to be treated for diseases.  They hope to have the building finished by this time next year.
