DRMC's Chief Medical Officer Expands Duties With Market-Wide Title

Danville, VA - Danville Regional Medical Center is expanding its reach with a new title for their Chief Medical Officer.

Saria Saccocio has been named Chief Medical Officer of the South Central Virginia Market.

That title extends to their sister medical center - Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County - and all of DRMC's affiliates in southern Virginia and northern North Carolina.

Officials say this change is part of a new effort to focus less on territory and more on what's best for their "patient centered medical neighborhood".

"It's time to partner together to provide better care in a healthier community, " Saccocio said.

DRMC officials say their goal is to work with physicians and community organizations in the region to find ways to improve care outside of the hospital to cut down on hospital admissions.
