Kevin Burchardt Sentenced to Serve Four Years in Nelson Co.

Posted:

Nelson Co., VA - An Amherst man facing charges in multiple jurisdictions for break-ins now sentenced to serve prison time.

Kevin Burchardt was sentenced to serve four years in Nelson County Tuesday for five felonies.

Burchardt also faces 12 felonies in Fluvanna County. He was already sentenced in Prince Edward County to serve 20 years in prison.

So this sentence in Nelson County will run concurrent with that.

Investigators say Burchardt may be responsible for breaking into homes in as many as eight counties and stealing guns, jewelry and electronics.

They have nearly 50 pages worth of stolen items discovered in Burchardt's possession.

Along with several guns and pillowcases filled with jewelry, investigators have recovered retired FBI credentials, a police chief's badge, and even a pin for the former fire chief of Roanoke City.

Investigators found the items in Burchardt's home, vehicles, and several storage units -- after his arrest at Wintergreen on New Year's Eve.

Burchardt is also set to be sentenced in Albemarle County for break-ins there.

We will stay up to date on his other sentences as they happen.
