Liberty High Students Raising Money for New Sign

Bedford, VA – Students at Liberty High School in Bedford want to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary with the purchase of a new electronic sign.

An announcement sign that stood outside the school was destroyed in a wind storm last year.  The student council wants to buy a new digital sign. That sign will cost $15,000-$20,000. All graduates of the school are being asked to donate $1.

"We want Liberty graduates from Bedford, from wherever they've stemmed out to, to donate one dollar," said Michelle Cox, SCA President. "If every Liberty graduate for the past 50 years could donate a dollar, then we'd have more than enough money for the sign."

The fundraising campaign will kick off Friday, with school employees who are also LHS graduates. Look for students collecting dollar bills at school events, like football games.
