A proposed Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee football game at Bristol Motor Speedway in September of 2016 is believed to be a done deal with an official announcement coming Monday.
Discussions about the two teams playing at the speedway began in 2005, a lot of people thought it was just a publicity ploy by track owner Bruton Smith.
Virginia Tech and Tennessee last met in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in 2009, the Hokies won 37-14. Bristol Speedway seats 155 thousand, the record attendance for a college game is 115 thousand, set last month when Notre Dame played at Michigan. So a Tech-Tennessee game COULD BE a record-breaker.
