Blacksburg Police Chief Retiring


Blacksburg, VA - Blacksburg's police chief is planning to retire from the department, after 30 years of service.

Chief Kimberley Crannis joined Blacksburg Police right after graduating from Ferrum College. She started out as a patrol officer, and worked her way up through the ranks, becoming Chief of Police in 2006.

Her accomplishments include starting the Citizens Police Academy and helping to regionalize the area's 911 system by 2015. Crannis' retirement is effective March first.
