VT, Tennessee to Face Off in "Battle at Bristol"

Bristol, TN - The "Battle at Bristol", Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee college football, WILL TAKE PLACE Saturday night, September 10, 2016 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Official announcement came Monday morning for the game billed college football's biggest ever. Bristol Speedway can hold close to 160 thousand.  The record attendance for college football is just over 115 thousand set last month when Notre Dame played at Michigan, so this could be a record-breaker!

Frank Beamer, HOKIES HEAD COACH, said "You know we're a couple of hours down the road, they're a couple of hours up the road.  Half of Bristol's in Virginia, half of it's in Tennessee.  My favorite sporting venue other than Lane Stadium.  But I love it here and I look forward to being a part of something special, something the biggest and the best."

Butch Jones, TENNESSEE HEAD COACH, said "I think it's a great thing, you know, for our institutions, it's a great thing for our football program.  But I think it's a great thing and a monumental thing for college football as well."

Despite residing just four hours from each other, the Battle at Bristol will be the first regular season meeting between Tech and Tennessee since 1937.
