Update: Firefighters Respond to Petco Structure Fire

Lynchburg, VA - Firefighters rescued some animals after smoke was spotted coming from a pet store in Lynchburg.

Crews were called to the new Petco Store on Old Forest Road just after midnight Tuesday. When they arrived they found light to heavy smoke inside the store.

Crews have removed all the animals from the building, and say they are all doing okay. They'll be checked out by a vet and then taken to surrounding Petco stores.

The store manager says the source of the fire was a refrigerator. The building did suffer smoke and water damage.

There's no word yet on when the store will be reopening.
