Season 18 of Friday Night Blitz rolls into week eight of the high school football season by featuring two top 10 teams in Class 6A in the Blitz Game of the Week.

In a fight for the top spot in Region 5, No. 8 Shades Valley (7-0, 5-0) will travel to take on No. 6 Vestavia Hills (6-1, 5-0) at Thompson-Reynolds Stadium, where Mike Raita and al.com prep sports editor Jeff Sentell will be live for Blitz Gameday Friday beginning at 6:15 p.m.

A rejuvenated Mounties team will look to defend its top spot in the region against Buddy Anderson's one-loss Rebels team. Shades Valley enters the contest after outscoring Gardendale 61-38 last week while Vestavia Hills will be playing on an extra day's rest following a Thursday night thrashing of Carver, 56-14.

Check out all of the games Raita and Jeff Speegle will highlight on Friday Night Blitz beginning at 10:20 p.m. on ABC 33/40 below.
