Update on "Holes" Found in a Roanoke Elem. School

Posted:

Roanoke, VA - An update to the story we brought you Monday night about Hurt Park Elementary School going on lockdown after two small holes were discovered in one of the classroom doors. The school is back open, and the district has officers at every elementary school. The Roanoke Police Department, along with the Sheriff's Office and D.A.R.E. officers were in all of the elementary schools; classes ran as normal.

Officials tell ABC 13 the holes are very small and may not be the result of a bullet after all, as reported Monday. Their investigation is underway but they say there were no casings, they could not find any projectiles, and people they spoke with say they did not hear anything. So it is unknown what caused these holes. Officials do have a message for parents.

"We're doing everything we can to make sure that your children are safe. We want the neighborhood to keep us informed when they see something that raises their suspicion," said Lt. Eric Charles.

Another incident to report in Roanoke. Tuesday morning they got a call about a weapon being on a school bus. They took action, and found nothing.

"I know there was a 911 call. Police Department members saw the bus, stopped the bus and were speaking with some of the students. A School administrator came and took over for the investigation on the bus. So I don't know what they found at that point," said Charles.

Our calls to the School Administration Spokesperson were not returned.
