The Central Virginia Health District wants to hear from businesses about their policies on smoking.
They are asking businesses to take a survey on whether they have a smoke free policy, and if so what that policy entails.
The survey is focusing on businesses in Lynchburg, Campbell County and Bedford County.
Results of the survey will be used to offer training or assistance to workplaces that want to put a tobacco-free policy in place.
The health department wants the adult smoking rate in the region to drop to 12%.
