Congressman Robert Hurt on Government Shutdown

Posted:

Congressman Robert Hurt says there is a possibility for another government shutdown.

Hurt voted "no" earlier this week on the deal that reopened the government.

Friday, he said the final proposal from the Senate did not include realistic spending reform.

Hurt says until we are serious about dealing with the debt, and allowing Congress to work together to form spending plans and addressing the debt, he says we could go from crisis to crisis.

"If history is your guide, it's not all together clear that we are going to see the kind of progress we need to see in the next 3 months. But I'm hopeful," he said.

Morgan Griffith and Bob Goodlatte also voted no on the legislation to end the shutdown.
