Keith Ford Needs To Stop Fumbling

Posted: Updated:

Bob Stoops Sooners return home Saturday as they take on 10th-ranked Texas Tech.  The Red Raiders are 7-0 under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury.  When Kingsbury was a player for the Red Raiders the former QB was known for passing up and down the field.  And while that's still a goal for this Tech offense, this Red Raider defense is starting to make a name for themselves as being pretty opportunistic.

In seven games, Texas Tech has forced and recovered seven fumbles.  That could spell doom for the Sooners young, but talented running back Keith Ford.

His first quarter fumble against Kansas Saturday was his second in as many weeks.  Stoops says Ford's not in the doghouse, but he's got to learn to hold onto the football.

"We feel he's earned his right to be out there and he's going to take care of the ball." said Stoops, "He'll play, it's not the end of the world for Keith.  He's a great young man, a great kid and he works hard and a great player.  He just has to learn to take care of the football.  That's two games in-a-row he's in and he doesn't get many carries and two of them are on the ground."

The Sooners and Red Raiders will take to the field Saturday in Norman at 2:30pm.
