Lynchburg - Lynchburg scored three times in the first half, then held off a charge from ODAC leader Randolph to edge the 15th-ranked WildCats 3-2 Wednesday night at L.C.
Goals by Tim Clancy, Luke Moore and a penalty kick by Michael Venegas staked the Hornets to a stunning 3-0 lead. Randolph got one back before the half when Julian Khalili scored with less than five minutes before intermission, Lynchburg led 3-1 at the break.
Randolph scored again just more than 20 minutes into the second half when Troy Jurney connected off a pass across the front of the net by John Adams, the WildCats sliced the lead to just 3-2.
But Lynchburg made the lead stand up, handing the WildCats their first loss of the season. Randolph drops to 13-1-and-1 while the Hornets improve to 8-5-and-2. Lynchburg wins despite being out-shot 25-11, the WildCats had seven corner kicks to only one for the Hornets.
Senior Jonathan Sheffield had seven saves for Lynchburg, Carter Smith had two for Randolph.
