New Oklahoma Law Cracks Down on Hydrocodone Abuse

Posted: Updated:

A new law going into effect Friday in Oklahoma has made it more difficult to abuse Hydrocodone.

Beginning Nov. 1 Oklahomans prescribed Hydrocodone may no longer be able to refill their prescriptions. This includes anyone with a prescription filled before Friday.

According to information from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, transfers also are considered to be a refill of a pre-existing prescription and are not allowed.

Mid-level practitioners such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants may continue to prescribe Hydrocodone combination medications at this time.
