Lynchburg Firefighters Respond to Early Morning Fire

Update: 10:45 a.m.:

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg fire officials say crews were able to put out a fire in a home's basement early Tuesday morning before it did worse damage.

Firefighters were called to the 1100 block of Greenway Court at around 5:30 a.m.   The house was filled with heavy smoke when firefighters arrived.  They later found the fire in the basement.

No word on a cause.  Two people were home at the time but they made it out safely.

The call came in at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

An ABC-13 crew on the scene says the house was filled with heavy smoke when firefighters arrived, and the family has been taken out of the house.
