Justin Gilbert wins the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week award for his performance in a 42-6 win against Kansas. It's the ninth time this season that a Cowboy has won a weekly Big 12 honor. Eight different OSU players have combined for the nine Big 12 weekly honors this season. That ties the Big 12 record for the most different players from a single team to earn Big 12 weekly honors during the course of a season.
Gilbert returned the opening kickoff vs. the Jayhawks 100-yards for a touchdown. His sixth of his career which sets a Big 12 record and leaves him just one shy of the NCAA mark of seven in a career. That record is held by both Clemson’s C.J. Spiller (2006-09) and Houston’s Tyron Carrier (2008-11).
Gilbert and the Oklahoma State Cowboys travel to Austin Saturday to face the Texas Longhorns. Kickoff is set for 2:30pm.
