Virginia Tech 87, West Virginia 82:
Blacksburg - Freshman Ben Emelogu scored a game-high 22 points to lead Virginia Tech past West Virginia 87-82 on Tuesday.
Adam Smith added 19 points for the Hokies (1-1), who rallied from a 17-point deficit in the first half. Smith scored seven of Virginia Tech's last nine points.
West Virginia (1-1) had a chance to tie the game, but Nathan Adrian's 3-pointer was short and Virginia Tech's Devin Wilson got the rebound. He made two free throws with 5 seconds left to seal the game for Virginia Tech.
Wilson finished with 16 points for the Hokies. Dibo led West Virginia with 17 points.
William & Mary 84, Liberty 72:
Freshman Omar Prewitt came off the bench to score 18 points as William and Mary held off Liberty 84-72 on Tuesday night.
After Antwan Burrus' jumper with 1:28 to play cut the Tribe lead to 76-70, Prewitt found Terry Tarpey for a layup to push the Tribe's lead back to eight.
Marcus Thornton, one of four returning starters for William & Mary, scored a game-high 23 points. The Tribe led by just two at the half. Tim Rusthoven added 16 points in the win for William & Mary.
Burrus led Liberty with 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting, Davon Marshall and John Caleb Sanders added 12 each for the Flames.
Wake Forest 98, VMI 71:
Devin Thomas had 20 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, and Wake Forest routed VMI 98-71 on Tuesday night.
