Christmas Tree Farms Open for Business

Bedford Co., VA – Friday was opening day for many Christmas tree farms in the area.  Dozens of families headed out to Dancing Hill Christmas Tree Farm in Bedford County.

Richard Miles, Dancing Hill owner, says there's a limited number of trees you can cut and carry, but should have plenty next year because of the wet summer. The farm is still recovering from dry weather, which can take several seasons.

Most of the trees for sale were brought in from Grayson County in Southwest Virginia. Miles says the trees from Grayson County have a high water content, so they won't dry out as quickly.

Miles says should water your tree every day. He also suggests not placing your tree in a window that gets a lot of sunlight, or near a heat source.
