Blacksburg - Jarell Eddie poured in a game-high 34 points and the Hokies won their third straight game, knocking off Winthrop 81-63 Tuesday night at Cassell Coliseum.
Eddie lit it up for Tech, draining six of eight three pointers, 13 of 18 overall from the field for the game. Tech led by 9 at the half before Winthrop stormed back to within one in the second half. The Hokies, though, finished the game with a 26-10 run over the final seven minutes to put the contest away. C.J. Barksdale added 13 points, Devin Wilson 11 for the Hokies who improve to 6-and-3 on the season.
Tech plays its ACC opener Sunday afternoon at 12:30 at Miami.
