Lynchburg Public Works Prepares For Pending Precipitation

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - With winter weather looming, public works crews in Lynchburg are getting their game plan ready for what's shaping up to be a slick weekend ahead in the Hill City.

16 trucks were loaded with pre-storm treatment chemicals Friday. Crews are on stand-by for Sunday and Monday to handle whatever the storm may bring.

This weather event is the unofficial start of what typically can be a busy season for these guys.

Lynchburg's Director of Public Works, Gaynelle Hart telling us tonight the planning for this weekend's winter weather started early.

"Today we loaded all 16 of our spreaders, so we've got them prepared if any weather comes in this weekend. We also checked all of our chainsaws, and have all the safety equipment with those, so we're ready to go if we have any downed trees as well" she said.

Downed trees and power outages certainly a concern, with ice and freezing rain in that Sunday forecast.
