Huguely Appeal to be Heard Wednesday

Charlottesville, VA - The Virginia Court of Appeals will hear George Huguely's appeal on Wednesday.

The former University of Virginia lacrosse player was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love, in May 2010.

Huguely was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

There is now a hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Huguely's attorneys filed the appeal, saying he was denied a fair trial. They say when one of the attorneys got sick, the judge rushed the case to jurors.

The state, however, says the judge was correct to move forward with the trial, after the attorney assured the court he could continue.
