Trees Become Victims of Ice Early Monday

Lynchburg, VA - The ice was too much for some trees to handle early Monday.

Route 460 was closed down for a little while Monday morning after a tree fell near the Candlers Mountain Road exit, blocking one lane.

Crews had to shut down both eastbound lanes as they worked to clear the tree from the roadway.

In Gretna, several trees were downed due to ice Sunday night and Monday morning.

Other than debris left behind, crews were able to clear the roadways by the afternoon Monday.

Another weak system may bring some rain, sleet and snow to the area for the Tuesday morning commute, but the moisture is not expected to make much of an impact.
