Lynchburg Grows with Community Gardens

Lynchburg, VA - Community gardens could be growing in Lynchburg.

Tuesday night, the Area Food Council announced a grant application process for centers, schools, churches and organizations to help implement the gardens in the community.

The Health Department and Live Healthy Lynchburg got more than $10,000 to put the gardens across the city to help with food deserts.

Leslie Hoglund says the gardens offer so many things.

"It's a place where people can be physically active and just enjoy their neighborhoods in a sense of creating a new food environment together," Hoglund said.
