Roanoke Valley Law Enforcement Help With Feeding America

Posted:

Roanoke, VA - Law enforcement all over the Roanoke Valley jumped to help this holiday season at a local food bank.

Instead of attending their monthly regional meeting, they headed to Feeding America Southwest Virginia Wednesday morning.

It was all a part of Law Enforcement Volunteer Day.

There were representatives from all over the Roanoke Valley at the local and federal level. Participants say it was an easy decision to make.

"It's been very surprising to see how quickly everybody jumped in. There's a lot of energy in there, as you can hear. People are enjoying their time in here today," said Deputy Chief Tim Jones with the Roanoke City Police Department.

The help came at a good time. The region's primary food bank says they are sending out nearly 4% more food this year compared to the same time last year.
