Court Hears Huguely Appeal

Charlottesville, VA - The Court of Appeals of Virginia is considering whether to let George Huguely appeal his murder conviction.

Huguely's attorneys want a new trial for the former University of Virginia lacrosse player, convicted in the 2010 beating death of his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love.

The three-judge panel heard arguments Wednesday from the state and an attorney for Huguely.

Most of the hearing focused on a 6th amendment question: whether Huguely was denied counsel when one of his attorneys became ill during his trial.

Huguely is serving a 23-year prison term.
