Rustburg's Empty Bowls Program to Benefit Food Pantry

Rustburg, VA – Thursday night in Rustburg, you and the family can go out and get a nice, big bowl of soup to benefit a Campbell County food pantry.

It's called Empty Bowls.

Wednesday night until 7 p.m., you can head out and get a bowl of soup, make a donation, or even buy a handmade bowl.

Many of the bowls have been donated by local potters. All of the proceeds go to the Rustburg Food Pantry.

"Empty bowls, we started it here four years ago. A lady came up from Alabama. That was a pottery maker. She says ‘let's start it up here.' Everything is donated, and all the proceeds to REAP, Rural Emergency Assistance Program here in Campbell County," said Ed Foster with the Rural Emergency Assistance Program.

If you want to join, go to the Ruritan Building. As a reminder, you have until 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

Organizers expect to serve 150 people before it's over.
