Henry Co., VA - The Martinsville-Henry County SPCA says they received an early Christmas present from up North.
Not quite the North Pole, but the North Shore Animal League came by the SPCA Wednesday morning to pick up 50 dogs and puppies.
They often get pets that will be more likely to get adopted up there, but the SPCA says Wednesday's pickup was unique because they took a special needs dog named Annabelle.
Annabelle is heart worm positive and the SPCA simply doesn't have the funds to care for her.
"Getting her an $800 heart worm surgery or treatment is not within our budget. So, this is kind of a Christmas miracle for us and Annabelle," Nicole Harris, Executive Director of the SPCA said.
The SPCA says Wednesday was also unusual because the North Shore Animal League doesn't usually pick up around the holidays, but they made time for this one.
Danville, VA - A tree, almost 100 feet tall, came crashing down during Tuesday's storm, just missing a house in Danville.
