Salem, VA - The former volleyball coach who was found guilty of secretly videotaping nearly two dozen teen girls will spend more than eight years in prison.

Prosecutors wanted DeWayne Barger to spend at least 22-years in prison but the judge decided for more balance than emotion.

At the Salem Courthouse, more than two-dozen victims and family members showed Thursday up to watch Barger get taken off to prison.

ABC 13 talked to some of the fathers of the victims after the sentence and even those discussions were difficult for the gentlemen to articulate.

In all, half a dozen people gave victim impact statements, including three of the 18 victims two of whom were 13 years old at the time of their taping.

All of the victims spoke about the issue of trust and privacy being violated to the extent that many of the young ladies, and parents will have a difficult time trusting again.

For one father who testified, it was very emotional as he explained to the judge how the incident will affect his entire family for years to come.

"This is something I can't fix for her and it's a horrible feeling. It's a helpless feeling. It's an empty feeling," said Father David Cuddy.

Barger did turn and address the gallery and did apologize for his actions wrapping it up by saying "you trusted me and I didn't do a very good job of it."
