Lynchburg, VA - Christmas is still five days away, but it's not too early to start thinking about what you are going to do with your tree when the holidays are over.
Virginia Tech experts say there are plenty of ways you can reuse it. One is to build a brush pile in your yard using the tree. As the tree decomposes, it will return nutrients to the soil.
"These are renewable, it's like a crop in a field, every time they cut one, they replant it and it does so much good for the environment while it's growing," said David Conley, Owner of Dave's Maine Wreaths and Trees.
Another potential use for your tree is to use it as firewood. Pine trees aren't normally recommended for firewood but experts say a few branches should be fine.
